“To me, performance is how I see the world. How it is and how I want it to be – it is a political position. It is a question of reality – what was, what is and what can be made real or can be exposed as something truthful. As a sociologist I look from the outside but the actor begins from inside. When I analyze Bibhabati, I have to expose her truths as well as her lies – I have to inhabit her without judgement as there is no other way of building a character.”

Her plays Teerthangkar and Khona are recognized as her most significant works as a playwright.
